Long story short I bought a K712 set+a decent DAC/AMP combo unit to use on my Xbox One X through an optical cable abut 6 months ago; it has been sold for a few months. Tonight I was at my parents home with no way to watch a movie, I ended up plugging a old set of beat up plastic headphones that probably came with a Sony Walkman in the 80's to my new PC motherboard. It sounded so much more clear than the Xbox Set-Up with Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos.

I heard that motherboard auto is usually good enough. It sounded great.

Usually MOBO sound is good enough, though, Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos are both Software solutions, which in turn mean that if you happen to have a bad sound card or a lesser one compared to your PC this will not Compensate for just a good soundcard.
