Qwertyuiop

since im on a tight budget i can only upgrade 2 parts.

im just wondering if there's a path (1080/1080ti or any other cards on the same tier) on just upgrading mobo and cpu

but still usable (will run with no problems/bottlenecks and stuffs) on my current build.

if it's possible. what cpu and mobo would it be?

I7 7700k  and a 1080 later from the money you saved

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Upgrade GPU. Maybe. You have nice config anyway.

correct me if im wrong, base on my understanding> thx btw

1.i can get away easily with just upgrading both cpu/mobo(high end enough to support 1080/1080ti or any other cards on the same tier) and not worry about issues if paired on my current gpu(rx480)...

2.same with going straight up upgrade my gpu(pairing i5 6500 and b150m) into 1080/1080ti but there will be limitations but the setup will still work?

number 1 = it's the best path to go, not only im future proofing the rig but its the best choice(point of upgrading, performance wise..)

number 2 = not really recommended since i wont be getting the full potential of the card and disrupts the point of the upgrade though it will still work.

in my opinion you should get a GTX 1070 8GB and done, nothing else

it will give you a lot of performance than i7-8700K upgrade

"Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away" @pipoawas

Mention me if you want to summon me sooner or later

You have 6th gen i5 CPU and you worry about bottleneck because what? Because Intel released 8th gen processors and they are better? Well, soon they release 9th gen. You can always change cpu later and your new graphics card will work, so you can just test it without any risk.
