Computer Noob needs help!

Hi guys , many people might laugh at me for this but I cannot find any Answers. The question is Would I be able to tweak/ overclock my cpu- i5 6400 2.8ghz And Hp Odense motherboard . I’ve heard that you need to buy products with the letter k or z in them to overclock but in my case I would just like to increase my cpu speed to 3.0ghz or I but higher if that would be possible . No, the best you can do is install intel xtu and undervolt it for better thermals

It is possible, but it's not recommended.

 

As you said Non K CPU's which stands for locked chips are not meant for overclock and locked by default. You will need i5-6600K at least to be able to overclock.

To "overclock" your CPU with minor gains you risk having unstable system. Safest bet is to use it the way it is.

No, you are very much not going to be able to overclock on that motherboard, and you'd get minimal when overclocking a locked skew like that.

My friend has a bad mb that pairing with his 7700 which makes it cannot go over 2.7GHz. You should get a better board too.
