So I finally built my custom loop and now I am experiencing bad temperatures. (Around same as I had with my hyper 212 evo)

I put a bit (around size of a rice) of thermal paste to the middle of cpu and then installed the water block (tape from bottom removed).

Also be cause the block was a while without the tape covering the bottom it got scratches there now and I am wondering if they affect the temps that much?

Temps: ~89c on IBT standard (Themps with coretemp)

Ambient: 24c

CPU: i5 4670k 4.2Ghz 1.2v

Block: EK Supermacy

Pump: D5  speed setting 3

Paste: Mx-4

Radiator: Alphacool ut60 360mm

Fans: 3x gentle typhoon at max speed

So I am probably going to try re-seating the block but should I add a bit more than a size of rice so it can fill the scratches better?

Higher temperature likely due to the poor TIM between the CPU die and IHS. You can lower the temperature by 10+ degrees celsius by delidding then replacing the TIM with a 100% metal compound and also lapping the IHS plus block.

Does not explain why I had same temps with hyper 212 evo

so before total system degradation, do some checks.

what temps with no overclock (stock)? better worse same?

cold plate scratches are immeasurable in temperature differences, hence TIM.

how much coolant total was put into system? sounds like you have a major air

pocket and especially in the CPU block.

Yeah I started to think about air in cpu block now too.

I do not know how much coolant I put in there and cannot remember my old stock temps =(

A bit over a liter I think. Maybe closer to two, cannot really remember.

Picture of the loop

i'd disconnect the pump/res from the chassis (not the loop), lay chassis on its back

and cycle the pump (in up-right position) until all the air is gone.
