Vega 64 Concerns

Obviously we know that the Vega 64 is a fiend in terms of power consumption and heat output. However, I was wondering if it was worth it in the end. How bad will it throttle? The Vega 64 I am getting seems to be one of those single fan designs unfortunately.

My case doesn't necessarily have what I'd consider to be fantastic air flow. I would've considered upgrading to a Nvidia card. However, I have a FreeSync monitor. I do not want to go through the hassle of buying a more expensive card, monitor, and selling the ones I have. 

 

I am getting a GREAT deal on the Vega btw.

If you can get an open air cooler it will help to control temps a little more. Likely not an option though since the deal is probably limited to this one card. What don't you like about your RX 580?

Just like most people trying to buy a GPU I guess. Perhaps more consistent frame rates and more VRAM to be able to crank graphics settings in games.

If I recall the post-launch analysis correctly, the "correct" way to run these was to undervolt them.  You can massively reduce power consumption while losing little to no performance.

Potentially yeah.  If the card is power or thermal throttling, that would actually help it clock higher
