I am looking at a new Laptop for School and probably University in 2 years. I am looking at the Dell XPS 13 and Lenovo E480. Which one should I get? Mainly for school work, not a lot of gaming. Also want it to last as long as possible.

Both Laptops have following specs:

i7-8550u

256gb M.2 drive

Lenovo has 16gb RAM, Discrete Graphics Card and weighs 1.75kg. NVIDIA MX150

Dell has 8gb RAM, Integrated Graphics and weighs 1.25kg. IG 620

I have heard great praises about Dell but not so much on Lenovo. Which one should I get?

Definetely the Lenovo E480, XPS products are known to be overpriced for their specs. Not to mention that the keyboard on the ThinkPad is amazing.

Both Dell XPS and Lenovo Thinkpad are great brands, and you won't be sad with either of the for general schooling purposes. If you care about looks go for the Dell. If you don't get the cheaper one. Both will be great and last you a long time if you take care of it.
