Hey, I just got a used Intel DX58SO with a Xeon X5650.

I tried to overclock the X5650, but I cannot get over 3.1 GHz, I belve is something to do with the memory.

When I tried to change the memory settings in the BIOS (all BIOS in stock settings, btw) from Auto to Manual, even if I put the exact same values as they were in Auto, the System just wont Boot at all, black screen and no signal at all.

I dont know what is wrong with this MotherBoard, I would love to get at least 4.0 GHz in this thing, but I don't know what to do at this point.

THINGS I ALLREADY TRIED:

Change the memory (Hyper X 1866 MHz / Logic 1600 MHz)

Change the BIOS itself (All three did the same thing)

Change the memory Slot

This is best asked in the X58 thread, but my buddy had poor luck overclocking with this same motherboard and an i7.

Is the board compatible with the 6 core i7s? If it isn't, you're not going to have any luck with the Xeons.

Beyond that, my advice would be to google for similar issues, since I personally haven't messed with that motherboard.

Yes, The board is compatible with the 6 core i7s.

The strange part is, even if I just reset all configurations in the BIOS (no overclock or anything), as soon as I change the memory settings from AUTO to Manual (all values still the same) the boart stops posting and all I get is the black screen. I already google it, and found nothing :(

Thank you for the reply, I will visit the X58 thread.
