Hello, fellow PC builders! I have a friend that has commissioned me to build them a gaming rig they want to be able to game and stream on it. Their budget is about $800, but I also need to ask, what would you charge for labor costs of the building. I don't l know what is the current going rate for custom PC building nowadays.

If you guys won't mind, can you suggest some $800 gaming rigs that can also stream on twitch too?

Also, let me know what the cost of labor would be too.

Thank you! :D

$50 is what NCIX used to do.

I think some other places now also do about $50.

Is that $50 per hour? Or as a whole?

Whole.

Also large companies get discounts on bulk purchases of parts so they get more profit, which is why some PC builders don't charge any more than the individual part costs.

I charge 8% of the parts cost + $5 an hour for the research.

I also leave windows installation choice up to the end user, as it is optional. (i just install windows without a license and tell them they should buy a key to get rid of the prompt)

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I feel like $50 is kinda low though for the time.

This is why building PCs for people is not a viable business unless you are a large company getting bulk discounts, or you scam people for lots of money, or both.

Linus has already said many times in the past that custom building computers to sell won't make you any money.

I mean I could charge what I think is fair for building it. I just need a few different parts lists.
