So. i have a crazy idea after watching some russian cool his pc with vodka. what if  i used pure lab grade ethanol? im looking for rediculous cooling with standared(ish) parts (ie no liquid gasses [nitrogen, helium, etc])

any suggestions?? and would Pure ethanol work since its ability to take in heat is decent?

As for using ethanol, I would not recommend it. Due to the low boiling point at around 65c, once your rig starts heating up, you could start boiling the ethanol, causing expansion, which could blow connections apart.

It'd also likely eat through any plastics or rubbers involved in the loop.

Also, Vodka is usually approx. 40% ethanol (it can vary), 60% water and other stuff.

In conventional watercooling, the fluid does not actually do the cooling. The fluid is still cooled by air which is aided by a larger surface area in the radiator. Therefore it does not really matter which fluid you use and for other reasons such as rubber stability, this is a bad idea.

You can do ghetto phase change cooling with alcohol... however...

The loop will be under high pressure and you can not use standard watercooling tubing/fittings.  You will need to use soldered copper pipes.  A cooled expansion chamber will also be a must.

The pump will also need to be fairly specific or something you will not mind replacing every few months because alcohol has less lubricity than water or glycol.
