Picked this guy up 2 weeks ago, and so far I am very happy with it.  Unreal how far laptops have come in the last few years. Got a decent price on it, Dell had a sale going on and I was able to stack the sale and my discount promo we get through work.  

 

I did not go with the very top model but just below, i7 8750H, GTX1070, G-Sync 1080 panel, and 256GB M.2 Drive.   The bad....  it runs hot, very hot!  I was however aware that this would be an issue.

 

15 mins of Heaven Benchmark out of the box netted 100'c CPU temps with some nasty core temp differential and thermal throttling within a few mins. So I did what any reasonable person would do, I took apart my new laptop that had only been in my possession for 30 mins for some Thermal Grizzly Liquid Metal. 

Was actually a fairly easy process with the help of iUnlocks R4 guide. I just took my time and kept all the screws in labels containers to keep track of everything. Whole job start to finish was about 2 hours. I did however break one of the antenna posts on the wifi card. Not a big deal, was replaced with an Intel 8260 and works just fine.

 

The results with the Liquid Metal and a -0.125vCore under volt were impressive.  30 mins of Heaven Benchmark got me 76'c on the hottest cores, no thermal throttling, and significantly reduced the core temp differential. 

 

I couldn't be happier with the final product.

If you have any better suggestion for a sub 1600 euro's laptop (my gf gets dell discounts)  i'd love to know!

I'm looking for something nice lightweight and thin yet powerfull. The Razor Blaze would have been awesome but is too expansife, and the MSI stealth laptops are nice too but also very expansife :o

 

Also I would love to have a laptop with a faster GPU then my current desktop pc has (r9 280x in crossfire) and a 100hz screen would be a bonus, i'm really looking forward to try high refresh rate in League of Legends.

 

Don't mean to hijack this place from OP tho :P

Hauwei Matebook X Pro. Only downside is camera placement and the USB Type C thunderbolt connector only shares 2 lanes so an eGPU wouldn't work
