I'm building a speaker, with a 12 inch woofer and a tweeter. I have already picked a woofer: https://www.eminence.com/pdf/Delta_12A.pdf

and I've also got a crossover, which has its crossover point at 2kHz and is rated for 8 ohm drivers. The only thing I need now is a tweeter with an 8 ohm impedance, which isn't very diffcult to find, but I'm not sure how much the power handling of this tweeter should be. The woofer is rated at 400 watt and the crossover at 200 watt. These levels will probably never be reached on this cabinet, and the tweeter usually uses way less power, so my thought is that an 80 watt or even 60 watt tweeter is going to be fine, but I'd like to know what other people have to say about this.

Wouldn't the difference in Watts impact the db output?
meaning if you output 20% for the woofer your already at 80% of the tweeter?

so the tweeter will sound a bit louder.

Well since the tweeter doesn't actually receive more power in absolute terms than the woofer, in theory it won't produce more sound (assuming the sensitivity of the tweeter and woofer are the same). Even if this was the case, I'd still be able to just use an equaliser to compensate, so I'm not worried about either the tweeter or the woofer being louder. In a speaker the tweeter often has a lower power handling than the woofer, simply because the majority of the power delivered by the amplifier is in the low end. So a speaker can be handling 200 watts overall, with the tweeter only "seeing" something much lower. I'm just wondering how much lower this is.

I would look for the Rated DB SPL.
if these are the same then the volume at a distance would be perceived the same.

If they also are both 8 Ohm Impedance then that would also make it easier.

Power doesn't matter as long as you don't exceed it.

You want to make sure the sensitivity of the woofer and Tweeter are the same/close

I know, but I want to make shure that the power handling of the tweeter doesn't get exceeded before that of the woofer
