Hi all,
Recently my PC developed an issue where upon startup, Windows detects some sort of problem (the error message doesn't seem to detail what the problem could be) and decides to disable my main graphics card with a "Code 43" error displayed if I look at the VGA in the device manager.

The issue doesn't appear to be related to my drivers, since the problem shows up on different operating systems (I dual-boot Win7 and Win10 and I tried updating my drivers on Win7, but not on Win10, yet the issue shows up on both).

Online solutions suggest it might be an electrical/power issue, but the suggested method (powering off my PC, holding the power button to discharge any electricity and turning back on) only worked once. If I keep restarting, after a few attempts, things got back to normal for a while, but the issue remains and succesful startups are becoming ever more rare, which is rather annoying/worrying.

Any ideas as to what could cause the issue? Is my GPU dying? Thanks in advance for any tips.

Full specs:

CPU: Intel i5 4690K

16 GB DDR3 RAM

Gigabyte GTX 970

500W PSU

Windows 7 64bit/Windows 10 64bit

Hi AdamToth

Have you made any recent hardware changes, new cards, upgrades ECT? Could the power cable to the card have come loose (Silly to say but do not look with power still on, drain power n stay grounded).

Do you have a spare kettle lead , no harm in trying to swap it if you do.

Error 43 according to nvidia is caused by the following:

Hey Robin, thanks for the reply

No new upgrades to the machine, no (the last new component was a second SSD I added this january, but other than that, the config remains unchanged for about three years now).

I checked the power cables going to the card, but they seem to be OK (unplugged and plugged them back in, as well as the graphics card itself).

Tried swapping the kettle lead, but no luck there either.

The next thing I'll probably try to do is borrow a different card to see if that works if I plug it in to my current system (and at the same time possibly try my card in another computer). But yeah, I'm starting to fear this is it for my VGA.
