bad frames with good hardware

Go to solution Solved by NickPickerWI,

For posterity:

OP figured it out while doing a check of their system. Turns out, the RAM was in slots 3 and 4, not running in dual channel mode.

After putting it into slots 1 and 3, it appears to be working as it should be.

i'm honestly not even sure what to do with this anymore, the dudes at tomshardware gave up on it lmao

but uhh my pc gets extremely low frames for a build like this and ive tried what seems to be everything

ive got a gtx 1080 and an i7 6700k skylake with 2133 16gb of ram

i'm getting fluctuations of fps on fortnite from 30-144 and id like it to stay at 144

not really sure as to why this is happening, pretty sure all my drivers are up to date, its not because of my hard drive, cuz i moved it to my ssd and still had no change in frames

if you think you know whats wrong anything helps ive been dealing with this for around 2 years and its getting to the point where its extremely annoying

heres a cpu-z logfile for anyone interested

You should run some stress tests on the CPU and the GPU to help narrow down what's crapping the bed. Unless you've done that already.

Intel i7 8700k | Asus ROG Strix Z370-I | NVidia RTX 2070 Super Reference | Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3600MHz x 32GB | Samsung 970 Evo 500GB NVMe | Samsung QVO 1TB SSD | Custom Loop | Corsair RMx 850w Gold | Phanteks Evolv iTX TG (modded) | Acer Predator XB1

what brand of GPU?

where is the Hdmi / DP plugged into (accidents can happen and a i7 7600k has a average fps of around 71 using the IGPU http://www.userbenchmark.com/PCGame/FPS-Estimates-Fortnite/3954/185230.211019.Max.1080p.0)

To boot to that make sure you GPU global settings are set to use high-end GPU over integrated graphics or auto. (btw I realized I was reading your clock speed for your CPU and not your GPU which made me think you had been overclocking it)

Sorry i was working on my assignment haha,

um have you checked for drivers inside of device manager.

have you tried removing and reinstalling the GPU

ive tried checking for drivers in device manager yeah

but removing and reinstalling the gpu i have not,

the 1080 is barely able to fit in my case as is, literally took like 20m just to get it in so id like to leave that to a last resort though lmao

with the drivers did you go through all of the main ones (hdd, network, processors, video devices .ect)

also what is your internet connection like?

how much does the internet drop (or is it a solid connection (only 10ish MB drops in connection speed))

where did you get those values as well (unless you are certain run this http://www.speedtest.net/)
