1. Budget & Location

My budget is £1600 and I currently live in the UK. Planning on buying components next week

2. Aim

I'm planning to use this pc for games and also for architectural rendering work (Revit, Vray, Sketchup, Photoshop etc..) and here where the debate comes... AMD or Intel cpu? AMD is better for rendering, however the rendering for me will only take place a few times a year (deadlines) and I also have a laptop therefore I won't be doing multiple tasks on this pc, so 20-40% faster renders won't make any difference. Unless if there's no difference in gaming between the AMD Threadripper 1920x and Core i7-8700k, then an AMD build is also a great option. I've made my build and want to see what you guys think, https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/9Zvh29. I've also found an interesting build online which focuses on better graphics but with the cost of reducing RAM, https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/pjqrpG.

If anyone has a better build for this price please let me know

3. Monitors

Will be upgrading from 59hz to 144hz but that will be in future £

4. Peripherals

Already bought

5. Why are you upgrading?

Better pc needed for everything, my current one i5-4670 with gtx 760 was bought a long time ago, might be able to sell some components and get about £100.

Looks like it, its HP w2448hc if you're interested, but will be buying a new one in about 3 weeks, want to buy pc now so I can set up everything before I start studying again.

Might as well save some cash with an R5 2600, going to have around 80% of the 8700K's performance at about half the price, and the soldered iHS makes it easier to cool.

You don't really need a 1080ti for 1440p gaming, just drop a few settings on the 1070ti

1070ti is cheaper than the 1080, but just as fast with a 2 minute OC.

Without the monitor the build is still solid around 1000 GBP, no need to spend 1600 on just the PC

Should also buy a case that actually has airflow.

Oh sorry man, the monitor is on a separate budget, didn't mention it. Why do you recommend not spending all 1600 on a pc?

Because it's just not very necessary to get a good experience or high performance PC.

Here's one I made real quick, includes a Ryzen 2700X, GTX 1070 Ti, 16GB of RAM, a 500GB SSD, X470 motherboard for easy overclocking if you're into that, P400S, and of course some Arctic cooling. :)

And if you want like "the best" then it's whatever but I wouldn't exactly say it's worth it.

If you were sticking to intel for the best gaming performance you might as well wait for the 9th gen $499 8 core CPU

Great builds I must say. Let me try building one too, just to serve as an alternative.
