Hello everyone!

I've been a long time fan (and subscriber) of LTT and over the years I've learned a lot from Linus, specifically when it comes to troubleshooting, but this one seems a bit too much for me to handle therefore I'm seeking your help.

As the title suggests, I've been having really weird graphics problems with my new laptop, the Huawei MateBook X Pro.

After 4 days of having the machine, I decided to install CS:GO to play a bit and the problems started spiraling from here. Upon installation, whenever I launched the game, it would open a black full screen window and 2 seconds in I'd return back to my desktop without having the icon in my task bar, although, it does appear in the task manager under processes and details. After some time I tried installing Terraria and it would give me a direct3d error, after looking it up it appeared to be a graphics card problem. Running furmark would result in an instant shut idown, and the Cinebench R15 OpenGL test would freeze the program.

I headed to the device manager and decided to disable the UHD 620 under the display adapter and disabled it, effectively forcing my laptop to use the MX150, and a couple of intresting things happened here:

  • Cinebench and furmark ran as they should
  • Terraria, while it did run, my CPU was being hammered with 100% CPU usage and 0% on the MX150, effectively the CPU was pulling the UHD620 and it's own weight
  • CS:GO, well it didn't run but this time it gave me an error (provided below)

Notice that, in furmark when UHD620 was disabled, it would name my first GPU as MX150, and the second as "Microsoft Basic Render Driver". In the screenshot provided below, the same name persists. After researching here and there, it appeared that this driver is a fallback provided by Microsoft when the original driver doesn't function properly. This made me think that there's a problem with the MX150, yet after inspection it appeared that the UHD620 isn't functioning as it should, and holding back the MX150 at the same time.

P.S: I have all my drivers updated, and running the April update, used DDU to uninstall previous nVidia drivers and reinstalled them.

I really hope I could get help on this one, it's really frustrating.
