Alienware x51 r1 cpu compatibility

Hey guys, I was looking for this info everywhere, so now I know, I want to share.

All dell forums say that X51 R1 motherboard supports only few cpus from 1155 range. I wanted to fit something absolutely not intended for that mobo, that should work woth 1155 socket and h61 chipset, Xeon e3 - 1220. To my surprise, it worked! No problems at all

depends on which mobo u got in it tbh

 

honestly ,  all mobos usually support all cpus for that socket ( unless lower tdp boards ect )

 

its not uncommon to have a xeon chip on a standard board, the only thing is that ul lose the ecc feature from xeon
