7820x OC luck???

Hey everyone. I'm currently running my 7820x at 4.7ghz at 1.15v ( delidded ) when I first looked online and videos to get those speeds most people are using 1.22 upwards. Which kind of left me head scratching asking myself if I was that lucky or am I do something wrong haha. Now when I stress tested everything I did 4 hours on OCCT , 2 hours on Prime95 , 2 and a bit hours on RealBench. No crashes all passed the tests with no errors. Started to play games and literally had no crashes or nothing. So im just wanting people's advice and opinions as to if I have been lucky for once or this is just run of the mill. Thanks peeps

4.7 Ghz on a delid with 8 cores on 14nm isn't anything too special, but you seem to have gotten a good chip. Thus, you can run lower voltage, which is great for power purposes.

Just keeping this here as a At 4.7, you're under the voltage curve. Your silicon could hit the wall harder around 4.9 (which is about where the node tops out), but you might be able to push it further. If you're at 4.7 stable at that voltage, I'd stay there. It's a nice OC and not as big on the power draw.

 

You got, what appears to be, a better than average chip. Congrats.

Well most folks see being at X speed at a voltage lower than most others meaning you can afford to add more voltage so that you can add more speed.  If it were me -- I would set it to 1.22V or whatever the highest safe/comfortable voltage is for that CPU and then see how much faster you can go at said voltage.

My 7900X is currently doing 1.2v 4.7 with the Predator's leaking pump end closed and another pump going into the res from the ass of it, aka a mess job and the pump keeping water in one place then sky shooting it from one pump to the res, ending up in high temp spikes. It's also not delidded.

My old 7820X did 4.9 no delid at 1.25v all day long also.

Still, that's a good chip. Push it further.

Did EK not replace that sheet?  That would piss me the eff off.

Nah I didn't bother. When I bought it, the first thing I did was to check the revision. It said rev 1.0 on it and I said fuck it... at least it didn't kill anything because knowing it could, from the ground up I tightened the fittings, the screws that hold the waterblock shroud, etc.. but I guess it had its days.

I have a Phoenix as well and that is built even shittier with plastic locks and stuff.. the more you get into EK the more you lose faith in them.
