Its only a few percent better than the 1600 and in my country the price difference is about 50-55$

Personally i would go for ryzen, more threads and you can always overclock

But for gaming the i5 is better not? I mean I wouldnt do heavy multi tasking or video editing.

It has much, much better memory support though. Can't just focus on the little things.

If you're just doing 1080p gaming, why not consider the i3? Even cheaper.

Intel is better for gaming, AMD is better for encoding video.

Ryzen 5 2600 comes close to beating the i5 8600k, and is a better value, but the i5 8600k is better for gaming.

For this moment yes, Intel would be better for gaming, but the 6 cores/threads could hold it back a bit in the future, and ryzen 3rd gen should be really good. Personally I’m waiting for ryzen 3rd gen for an upgrade.

It looks like the Ryzen CPU isn't overclocked though. That makes a massive difference, as without OC'ing it's really a castrated product.

Totally agree. I'd never buy the first gen of any technology, and second gen is so-so. I really expect to see significant improvements to Ryzen with it's third iteration.

Pretty excited, really.

Or you could spend half the money, use it for a year or two, and then upgrade to what's new then. 4 cores is still plenty these days, especially if you're pushing 1080p.

In don’t think Intel chips make sense anymore. Sure they have better single core performance right now, but the trend is more cores and more threads. The Ryzen chip will last you longer and will provide a MUCH better upgrade path in the future considering how long AMD will support the AM4 socket.
