So I recently gutted an old Alienware rig that had been working. I ended up pulling out two OEM 660s.

I've attempted to install one into an old rig I had, but during driver installation it would black screen and upon restart it would freeze on the windows splash screen.

I was wondering if anyone knows the fix to this problem.

Thank you in advance <3

Have you tried installing older drivers? Maybe this is just a problem with nvidias latest drivers messing with the older architecture.

Ive attempted the latest drivers and the drivers posted from Dell. No luck from that. I’m currently not him so once I get home I’ll continue testing.

Yes it does

I've had experience with such cards and I usually just threw them away. Since it appears to be a problem at the component level.

Same issue as yours. When drivers are installed no problem but when you install a driver -- old or new -- they result in the issue you described.

Don't take my word for it though. Maybe other people here can chime in some additional steps you can take.
