The 3rd gen i7s are still good, and I believe those are compatible with 2nd gen boards. Otherwise, what's your budget? Do you mostly game?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

If you really want to upgrade then try and find a used i7 2600 or i7 3770 on Ebay.

The board i have is compatible with 2nd and 3rd gen. I mostly game. Had a Saphire HD 7950 3gb before but that was old too so needed a 1070 since I was able to get it for 250. As for budget, not sure. If I can find used i will. Found an i5 8400 for 120 used but idk how I feel about that being used. Any previous experience buying CPUs used?

Used CPUs are almost always good. I've had a great experience getting all my parts second hand, so an eBay CPU won't do you wrong
