Hey! Recently I bought a new laptop, and I was wondering if I should take any special considerations when charging it. Since I have it, I have been using it with battery until it reached 15-20%, and then I charged it when I didn't use it, but that may be only an obsession.

So my questions are: Is there anything to have in mind when charging a laptop? Best percentage to charge it? Can it be used while charging? Is it ok if the laptop is charged up to 100% but it is still plugged?

Greetings from Spain!

PS: I know in cellphones it doesn't matter anymore as batteries have been made from different materials in the last years.

It doesnt really matter how you use them nowadays.

Altho it does reduce life in the long run (several years) when you let it go to low for to long. (as in 10% or lower for over multiple months, don't do that)

Some might say to not leave it plugged in but with the charging controllers now used, its not an issue at all.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

Ive got a notebook i always only use at home.

I charged the battery to 80% and removed it.

Now i use the notebook without battery on AC power.

And only check the battery once a year. Last time i check it was like 78% charged (2% loss over a year).

Thats from a 7 year old notebook.

But using the battery reduces lifetime, so keep that in mind.

Keep it at 20-80% (or 30-70%). 100% if you need to use for a long time outdoors
