Switching computers

Hey guys!

For work, I got a new computer. My old computer still has a bunch of my stuff on it but some of the things that were on it were switched over via an external hdd. My new computer is running windows 10 while my old one is running windows 7. Is it possible to just plug in the old hdd from my old computer into my new system as a secondary drive even though it has the windows 7 boot key on it or do I just have to use the external hdd to get all of my data on the new drive?

Yes you can install it as a secondary drive. You'll need to take the Windows partitions off it though. Lookup using old OS drive as a secondary drive and it'll explain.

Probably gaming or helping technophobes with tech...

Depending on if you plug it in via USB or SATA and depending on how your BIOS boot order is set up you can just plug it in like any extra HDD and you'll boot into your desired OS without issue. The only problem you'll have is you'll need to know how to navigate the Windows folder directory to locate the files you want to remove such as

D:\Users\"name"\Desktop

D:\Users\"name"\Pictures

D:\Users\"name"\Music

D:\Users\"name"\Videos

D:\Users\"name"\Documents

D:\Users\"name"\Downloads

D:\Program Files

D:\Program Files (x86)

D:\Users\"name"\%appdata%

and wherever else your files exist
