Alright so I'm looking for a labtop which can run Solidwork 2018 relatively well, here's the list of specs the college recommends :

  • Windows 10 64 bits
  • Invest in a recent and fast processor (!?)
  • GPU with minimum 1Gb VRAM
  • SSD 125Gb+ and HDD 500Gb

I'm would like to know if this guy can actually run Solidwork pretty good, Solidwork being a 3D Rendering software if I'm not mistaken. Also, the CPU part ain't too clear on the recommendation sheet the college provided.This ain't gonna be my labtop btw so correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah I am a man of desktops as well but they need a labtop for the mobility so I'll definitly check out the workstation bit thks

I've run solid works 2016 on potato. From experience with CAD most of it is GPU bound unless you're doing physics simulations. The 1gb V-RAM is moe for texture mapping than anything. Pretty much any fast quad core (i5 or better) will work fine. Depending on how you like to use CAD I've heard that Solidworks 2018 supports touch screens in some capacity so that might be an option. HP and Dell are very good for user upgradability, generally ram and storage can be upgraded. Honestly, like the other guy said, a desktop with a quadro card is the best option, but on the go use will work fine with something like a gtx1050ti. The G3 is nice but it might be worth your while to see what HP, Acer, Asus, ect. offer with a H/HQ cpu and a gtx 1050ti.
