Upgrading PC; CPU choice

I would like to upgrade our PC in future to something more modern. Our current CPU is an i7 3770 (4C8T) and of course, with that, we can only use DDR3 RAM. I was wondering how much a performance impact an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X upgrade would have which is 6C12T for $309 AUD. (I already have MOBO chosen DDR4 RAM). I know just for gaming anything more than 4 cores is considered a bad value or overkill, but I choose this CPU because my brother does light content creation/streaming. I also like to watch/listen to Youtube on our second screen when playing something (for example Cities Skylines, and sometimes BF1). Which is why I think a 6 core would be more useful to us. Any comments?

What are the rest of system specs?
