First PC

OGH2020

Hello! I'm interested in building a PC by the end of the year to play games like PUBG, Rainbow Six, Arma 3, Overwatch, and other similar games. I want to play them at 1080p 144hz. I currently have the 1070 Ti on the list but if the 2060 comes out for a similar price I'll buy that instead. Also, I'd like to stay below $1500 dollars and I like the black and white aesthetic.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Mfcqr6

In the future, I plan on buying the:

Logitech G513 (Keyboard)

Logitech G403 (Mouse)

Sennheiser 598SR (Headphones)

Modmic 5 (Microphone)

and for cooling and lighting,

Corsair LL120 RGB 120mm Fans x1 (For rear exhaust)

Corsair LL140 RGB 140mm Fans x4 (Top Exhaust and front intake)

Corsair Commander Pro (Fan and LED Light Strip Hub)

Corsair RGB LED Lighting PRO (Light Strips)

Am I missing anything I need to run the PC or to run the fans through Corsair's software? If anyone has any questions I'd be glad to answer them, thanks for all of your help.

you need to make sure you have enough 4-pin connectors on the mobo for all the fans + lights so they can be controlled if not buy a controller/spliter

If you judge a fish based on its ability to climb trees it will go its whole life thinking its a failure.

Does the Commander Pro not do that? I thought I would plug in the RGB and the Fan cables into that and not the mobo

Can you turn off those horrendous red LEDs on the Motherboard?

And why did you change the PSU?

Thanks for the help

Solid build all around, though I would probably purchase a secondary HDD as 500GB does not last long when loading it up with games alongside your OS.

As the current owner (and soon to be former owner) of the Modmic 5, I don't really recommend it. The sticky pads don't last long especially if you tend to get sweaty or are prone to having oily hair. The mic quality is unremarkable and as a whole the kit is overpriced for what you get.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

Isn't a 1080 a little much power for 1080p 144 Hz?

I don't want a USB mic. Mine will be using XLR cables going to a mic amp I'll be getting in a month off a friend IRL.

I believe you can in the BIOS or in some MSI software. Or you can opt for the B450 PRO4 from ASrock that doesnt have LEDs

This PSU is cheaper and is of good quality and will last you a good while

Indeed, though budget can fit a 1440p panel if the OP wants to

Not a problem.

The USB version is decent if you have the USB output from the mic going to an audio interface to boost the signal, otherwise it'll be very quiet.

I recommend the 1070TI as the price difference is minor compared to a 1070 but approaches within ~90% of the performance of the 1080.

But will the 1070 be able to do Medium-High settings at 144hz? I want to save some money so I can build it sooner. Thanks!

1080 is at 1070ti pricing. And the 1070 isnt far for the 1070ti. Might aswell grab the 1080.

Thank you so much for all your help. I'll adjust my build so it has an RX580, a cheaper SSD and maybe a second HDD. Would it be stupid to do a 120gb M.2 SSD for the OS, and a 500gb Sata SSD for my games, and no HDD? I don't do that much other than game on the PC and use cloud based websited for my documents for school and such.

I allready did all the neccesary changes in a post above. A 2TB HDD is the bwst choice. Games dont benefit from slightly faster load times and the capacity will last you a very long time
