So I am going to buy a used Zotac mini GTX 1060 GB for $230 ( currently retailing at  $340 in my region)

The owner says he has used it for video editing and little bit of gaming,

He claims it wasn't used for mining,

What kind of GPU stress should I do before buying

I need benchmarking tools which are free and quick, so that i can quickly confirm the performance of the card

Any other tips will be appreciated

Hold up. Did he say in his listing that it wasn’t used for mining or did you ask? Because if that was in the listing, usually that is a bright red flag and was used for mining. As for benchmarks, I would use unigine heaven or OpenGL tests(you could bring on an external ssd) and compare the scores to some website with results like tomshardware then go from there.

Ask him for a copy of his receipt or at least the purchase date. If it's still under warranty you could RMA the card.

Is it the 3gb or 6gb version? if its 3, i can pretty much guarantee he didn't mine with it

It's still under warranty, I sent me the pic of the bill. But If i initate an RMA I will have to pay one-way shipping.

It's a 6 GB card.

i sold a few gpus this winter when prices skyrocketted and always listed them as never used for mining (bcuz i didnt). I'd give him the benefit of the doubt for a price that good. I've also RMA'd a few cards with EVGA and after asking them, they bought & emailed the shipping label for me.

I dont know if zotac would pay for shipping, but it would be worth asking them

Unless you personally know the guy pretty assume any used card was mined and overclocked.  If this is off a listing that has multiple cards listed its almost certain they were mined cards.  If possible ask him for video and or screen shots of benchmarks and of the card running.  In the end I am not huge on used cards unless they are from a company like EVGA that has very good customer service and allows the warranty to be easily transferred without proof of purchase.

also IMo Zotac are some of the worse cooled cards especially the mini
