My metal backplates only see 80c so you should be fine doing that. It wont conduct much so it wont see much temp at all.

I would recommend to use ABS, PLA has a melting point of around 150-180C but the glass transition point is the most critical as that's when it starts to soften or sag which is only around 60C.
