PC won't boot with GPU connected - it does boot when I take out my GPU

As the title says, my computer doesn't boot when I have my R9 280 connected to it. When I remove the GPU and try to boot without GPU, it boots normally into windows.

I have an old GPU laying around, when I plug this one in, windows boots normally as well.

I assume this means my GPU is completely dead?

could be your PSU or a driver problem

Yes, my fans start spinning and what not, but I don't hear the Windows booting up sound.

The same thing happens wether I plug the HDMI in my GPU or in my motherboard.

What's your other GPU if I may ask?

It's an old GTX 550 Ti

My previous experience with this was graphics driver conflict, reinstalled the drivers (uninstalling it using DDU) and it worked (just to be sure). It can be something else, but my quick judge is a dead GPU (from no display, but you sure it's seated properly?).

I've been using it for the past 3,5 years.

I've uninstalled my drivers with DDU 2 days ago, so I doubt it's a driver issue. 

I'm also very sure it's seated properly.

Sounds like a defective GPU to me.

Check your PCI-E power connections, on both the GPU side, and PSU side -- since you have a semi-modular M12 520W.

Is it possible to test the R9-280 in another PC?

 

Even with driver conflicts, you should still be able to make it into the BIOS.

Drivers don't load until Windows / Operating System starts up.

Well I've tested this both with my current PSU as well as a spare PSU I had laying around (Corsair VS550), on both PSU's the same problem. 

Unfortunately I can't test my GPU in another PC.
