Hi guys, so yesterday I was checking out the PC building simulator new update using OpenGL and watching the IT crowd TV show, and when I exited the game the computer froze completely (believe me the irony has not been lost on me) so I thought no problem is just windows doing its thing, so I restarted it and when it booted up it was with the minimum resolution possible and the nvidia drivers were not present.

So I ran DDU cleared cache and drivers, restarted and now it says the monitor is out of range, I have tried the GPU in another machine with the same result (out of range).

Booted my machine without the GPU and everything works just fine, so I install the GPU back in and nothing works I can't even see the Motherboard startup and the bios, I was thinking about getting the windows media tool and taking the GPU out and from there trying to force the minimum resolution.

Also I can't access the bios or boot in safe mode because it boots way to fast.

So I need troubleshooting suggestions.

Please send help!

Thanks in advance!

SPECS:

I5 8400

GTX 1070

16 GB

850 EVO

If you can't get into your BIOS reset the CMOS or remove the CPU_FAN cable.

It'll freak out that the CPU cooler isn't connected and throw an error. You'll then be able to enter the BIOS. Make sure to plug the cable back in too.

That only really works provided that you haven't set the sensor to ignore.

If it's throwing out of range it should correct itself. Maybe reset the monitor or let it have a few minutes to reset itself.

Thank you, so you think the GPU is not dead?

I need some hope right now!

Not too sure honestly.

Try putting the 1070 in, but run the monitor off of your iGPU and open device manager and see if there's an error (like code 43) triangle over the 1070.

I'd like to think that it's still working. Surely there's no way it could be dead.

So whenever I use the onboard GPU I have image but when I plug in the card the monitor says suggested resolution is 1080p

Maybe format the system entirely?

When I plug the GPU tho I can't see the mobo logo.

Did you check device manager? If it's displaying and error with the GPU, make note of it.

It doesn't really matter if you see the mobo logo or not. Just start smashing DEL or F2 (whichever lets you in BIOS) when booting and you should get in it.

It doesn't display the GPU because its out of the PCI-E if I plug it in the image is done, also when the gpu is connected I cannot see the BIOS at all, the only way I see that is with the GPU out of the box,

Might as well just RMA if the GPU doesn't display anything.

Would have thought that running the display off the iGPU with the GPU plugged in would have let you do at least something. Maybe get you into safe mode wipe drivers and reboot back into windows to install them again. Before that plug the monitor back in the GPU and see what's what. Odd.
