I need to look for a new dual band network adapter. I currently use https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007GMPZ0A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  but the 5.0ghz band is either faulty or just not working because when im on 5.0 im not able to connect to game servers.

Budget: 45$

Those things are a MASSIVE waste of money. Gigabyte makes one that's massively cheaper and does the job pretty much just as well.

Everyone seems to be missing the point where the OP mentions having trouble connecting to game servers on their current card.  If the problem is ONLY game servers and not the rest of the Internet, I'd be dubious that the card is faulty at all.

Being on 2.4 Ghz or 5Ghz shouldn't matter. As long as you go signal strength that is decent then you should be fine. This is not a card issue. Its most likely a poorly configured Firewall, either on your gaming box or your router.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Im not sure what the problem is with my current network, but i cant connect to my games at all (path of exile and dota 2, havent tested others). This only happened while I was on the 5.0ghz band and everything was fine on the 2.4ghz band so i assumed the problem was with adapter.

I can connect to the game servers fine on the 2.4ghz band, just not on the 5.0ghz band. I assumed it was the adapter since i don't know what else it could be.

Does 5 Ghz work outside of games? If so, I still highly doubt its the adapter. Also, what kind of signal strength do you have?

5 ghz does work outside of games, but if im doing anything else the connection will drop instantly if i launch a game. Signal strength is about 83% (router is in another room)

Have you tried looking for alternative/newer drivers?

Also what is the current adapter?

Try older ones?  Sometimes bugs can sneak into driver updates.

At least the adapter you have supports mini PCIe cards so it gives you more upgrade options.
