So I was about to buy the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB kit for my upgrade to Ryzen, but then I saw in the recommended the G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series.

Now, I know that the RGB series is more expensive, but only by $20 (In this case), and I would love to have some RGB in my system.

What I want to know is:

Is there any difference in the RAM (Speed, latency, etc.) that I may have missed.

And

Would you buy it if you had to choose?

There is a good chance they are both Hynix kits. Pretty certain the G.SKILL kit is Hynix. I don't think you will have a problem with either, but I would encourage you to do a little more searching for something that is 3200MHz. I think you can find a G.SKILL RGB kit that is a little faster for a very similar price.

Also, I am trying to keep my budget low, at about $400-$450. This includes the CPU and motherboard.

RAM is made from a few different memory chips made by different manufacturers. Samsung, Hynix, Micron I believe are the big three.

Newegg has an orange G.SKILL TridentZ kit on sale. Its 3200MHz.

Oh and you can also look at used RAM. It doesn't go bad so you can find someone selling a kit you like cheaper that way.

I was only going to go with the RGB if the only sacrifice was $20.
What I am asking is if the G.Skill RAM has no other difference than the $20 and RGB. I want to go with the Vengeance if the RGB is not worth it.

Ahh ok. You should check out Newegg then too. They have always been cheaper whenever I check RAM prices and they don't charge sales tax. You might even save yourself some more money.

But yeah there isn't anything better about the G.SKILL kit other than it's RGB.
