have a desktop pc and I am connecting it wirelessly. The highest I get is 20mbps when no other device is connected I have tried so may wireless adapters and pcie cards no help. The main issue here is as soon as another device connects to the router I get less than 1 mbps which ain't usable i also have disconnection issues heavily. If I could get at least 10mbps with my desktop pc when other devices are connected I wouldn't be complaining. I know I could plug an ethernet cable in but my younger brothers keep unplugging it from the router which is really annoying. When I use my macbook air I get 40mbps so why is my internet speed so slow wirelessly. What is the solution?

I know you are talking about wifi issues, but it could be an issue with the signal strength. You could try getting something like a powerline adapter. Chances are you would get better results from it anyways, that is unless your internal home wiring is garbage.
