Getting a sound card to fix audio problems?

dnroamhicsir

I have a Intel DH77EB motherboard that has no audio whatsoever. I tried everything but I can't get it to work and I'm kinda tired of messing with it. Would getting a new sound card solve my problem? I'm thinking of buying the Sound Blaster Audigy FX 5.1.

Do you have hdmi ?

then your tv should provide sound

if not. Check your drivers first ( probably that ..97 company )

else a soundcard will work

i always used a soundcard until iT died. Now I use onboard

If you see strange text like this

then you can be sure I use a mobile.

All info provided is to help you. I can not garantee That iT is 100% correct. Apply my solution at OWN risk. Just like overclocking has everything a risk

glad to help you

So getting a sound card would definitely fix my problem, whatever it is?

If you do not have HDMI then is there No way for telling for sure

If you have HDMI and still No sound. Then iT could be your Windows settings ( mute button ? Disabled device in sound menu ? Wrong device selected ? Wrong drivers.. HDMI use video card drivers so you got No video installed ? ... )

if everything else works then putting in a soundcard solves your sound problem

and then is your onboard sound broken

but be sure to check in hardware manager first If your sound card is found. If not then iT is broken

That motherboard certainly has Realtek's sound chip.

Though ALC892 is at bottom of technical performance/quality barrel...

(Audigy FX is class higher)

What are you trying to connect to it?

Green connector is for (front) left/right unless it's been configured otherwise in drivers.

Also especially if using Windows10 make sure drivers are fresh.

  • 1 month later...

I know it has been a while, but some situations arose and only now I have the opportunity to work on this. I have audio on both the onboard and my graphics card HDMI outputs, but nothing on the green jack.

I am kinda tired of messing with this. At this point if buying a sound card fixes the problem then that's what I'm going to do.
