i was searching for a keyboard recently and i really liked the logitech g613, a wireless mechanical keyboard.

when i went to buy it at amazon.de i noticed that the german layout version was a full 50 euros cheaper than the uk layout

my question is can i buy the german layout witch is alot cheaper and then just use a program to swap the y and z keys(the only difference between german and uk layout)

Keep in mind there are quite a few more different between qwerty and qwertz. These differences involve letters being in different locations, but mainly about what extra characters are shown on the numbers (e.g. Shift+3 on US layout keyboards = #, while on qwertz keyboards it's the paragraph sign, etc.).

You can change all these inputs by just using a different language config, but you can't rely on looking down at your keyboard at all, since many keycaps will show a different character than what you type.

Thankfully they typically use a UK layout in terms of keycap sizes, so you could realistically buy a replacement keycap set.. Except it's Logitech, so they are using their own made switch, instead of something with a Cherry stem, so most keycap sets wont work..

So in short, you could in theory, but it's very much impractical to do.

A UK layout that supports Romer G switch, yes.

Which this combination will be very uncommon, but there might be a set out there.

But 50+ euros for a quality keycap set is not uncommon, so begs the question if it is actually worth it.
