I currently have a i5 8600 but I feel like its just not strong enough. In Deus Ex Mankind Divided, the i5 is bottlenecking my 1080 heavily.I dont reach 99% usage and in some places,my cpu reaches 90% usage and gpu sits at 60 causing major fps drops. My 1080 is also bottlenecked while playing BF1 although that could maybe due to the fact that BF1 runs bad on single channel memory and mine is single channel 8gb ram.I have a b360 motherboard. Will the upcoming coffee lake-s cpus be compatible on my mobo or should I get a i7 8700k in some couple months?I cant overclock on my mb though.Dont know how I should go with it.Worried if my cpu cant keep up with upcoming open world games.

Might be a good idea to go dual channel soon, yes. I think that going with a single 8GB stick was the wrong part to skimp on. You would've been better off stepping down to the i5-8400 and gotten 16GB of RAM instead.

This video shows the 8400 with a 1080Ti and nearly full GPU usage in Deus Ex.

I thought about that too but wasnt sure I couldnt find any videos of deus ex single channel vs dual channel comparisons

Yeah I agree with @NelizMastr, go with dual slot. Your CPU should be able to support a 1080 relatively easily so maybe invest in another 8gb of ram for the second slot. Worse case scenario you have to return 8gb of ram

Irish in Vancouver, what's new?
