Question about Samsung S8 /S9 Dex with typeC to HDMI?

Samsung S8 /S9 at launch is advertised with the Dex dock to connect to monitor, which needs to buy a separate Dex station.

but note 9 seems can be easily connected by USB type-C to HDMI cable

 

is there any updates to S8 , S9 to use USB type-C to HDMI cable? or will it just display as mirror monitor?
