Need advice on editing...

Hi!

So i am planning to make a youtube video, about a 300$ build, but i don't know how to edit videos... ( well, i know the basic stuff, like inserting, cutting, transitioning and adding text to the clip )

I am using Sony Vegas Pro 13 ( i got it free during a school project ) and what i want to do is to have a video of a game, for example Far Cry 5 and add a sideways graph showing the MinMaxAvg Fps, while i am talking.

I know how to make audio and blur out the gameplay, but what i don't know is how to make that graph.

 

 

P.S WTF Nvidia??? 799$ MSRP for a single freaking card?!

I would record the video with OBS and you can add a layer to the video that has whatever input you want such as a program that displays your fps. You would add it to the video in a similar was as you would a facecam. After you have the recording gedit it however you want in SVP

Well, if you use excel you can make perfectly fine graphs using tables. Create an image off it and put that image over your video. Easy right?

You don't create the graph in Vegas, you create it with another app (Excel, for example) and just import the picture into Vegas.

First off they've been doing 10k MSRP for a while now

Second: why are you making a build for a video you are planning to make?

Why not just spend the that you're otherwise spending on researching literally just rendering the video on whatever crappy i-GPU you have?

2. I have an i5 3570 ( NOT a crappy i-GPU ) and a 1050

Yeah OK so as I said just upgrade that 1050 to a 1080 if that'll improve render times with your application or instead upgrade to an r7 1700 and you'll save way more time than you would rendering or whatever on a laptop for the same money + a laptop is a sinkhole for money and can't be bought cheaply used.

If you are just looking static graph, do it in Excel and edit in some image editor, Photoshop, Gimp etc. which is best for you. For running graph... I haven't done those. Best would be recording it live.
