Help with Laptop choice

Greetings techies

 

Was wondering if anyone have any good tips on a good laptop, need one to bring with me when i'm out n about, driving a truck (asphalt) so will be out in the truck for about 4 days a week for the foreseeable future.

Going to get a Inverter built in to the truck this week, so the power shouldn't be a issue. 

(anyone know the rough size needed tho? feeling somewhere between 500-1000 watt constant clean sinus waved one, gonna see what Scania have when i get to it)

 

Going to use it mostly for video watching and gaming, but also alittle bit of everything really.

 

Would like something with at least a GTX 1070, preferably a 1080 (current PC is a 980TI which if i understood right is around there with the 1070, would be nice with a upgrade  )

 

Preferably a 17'' screen, the laptop is going to be stationary in the truck most of the time anyway so. 

 

I know there are some 4K laptops, would be nice to see a 4k screen, however i'm unsure about it.

Mostly due to power drain over a 1080? and the performance drop, not sure it would be worth playing 4k in mediocre performance over 1080p in good performance

(then again i guess 4k gotten well optimized and the new gtx can handle it well so, haven't looked much in to tech for a while so last time i checked 4k it was brand new more or less ^-^ )

 

An Aux port would be nice, can play the sound in the trucks speakers then.

 

Price preferably around 2,000:- USD can go upwards toward 3,000:- USD

 

I do however live in Sweden so cant get any US/Canada specific ones :c

Could you list out ALL 17 inch laptops with at least 1070 GPU that are within your budget?

A 1080 should have no problem running 4K, but you should wait a while to buy. The RTX 2080Ti was just announced and Intel 9Th Gen is on the way.

 Aha! See, its dangerous to be outside the tech loop at times. I'll wait until they come out until i make my choice, see if a RTX is worth it or if ill go with a 1080 which will probably become cheaper then.

To be honest i'm to lazy, i also aren't sure of all the different ones, after all there is allot of them out there, and not all websites got them all so. Was one of the reasons i asked here so i know what to look for.

 

Money isn't the main issue, id say its more the price to value. Was looking at the Surface book before (wanted a tablet also so thought 2 birds one stone) but after thinking about it, cant say i feel the hardware to price is right.

 

Also found it weird that the difference between a surface book with 256GB SSD and 1TB SSD is around 1,000 usd, Guess that's the issue with the more one of a kind ones.

 

Anyway many thanks for the tips, i'll continue looking around.
