Lately, whenever I boot up and pc and start a game straight away after it has fully booted up, my entire computer just freezes. Pressing Windows key or ctrl+alt+del doesn't work either. Had to force shutdown my pc and reboot it again and it works fine after that. Then these past few days it started going into sleep mode whereby the screen just goes black and I have to force shutdown it again. I don't know what seems to be the problem.

Try getting a new CMOS battery and resetting the CMOS. I had this problem once with an old optiplex, once I got a new battery everything was fine.

I will give that a try. How do I reset the CMOS?

Just taking out the battery alone should do the trick.

You really only have to wait 30 secs or so and then put it back in. If that does not help try getting a new battery.

When in doubt just reinstall windows

Maybe try taking out your hard drive and seeing how it runs with an ubuntu live USB

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
