DVD reader has issues reading disks

Hello,

My DVD reader has issues reading some (not all) disks I have but when I put the disk in my laptop they get read just fine.  Anyone know how to fix this?

Are they dual-layer discs?

Protip for determining if they are: they have more than 4.3GB of data

How old is the laptop? If it's older then maybe @Dan Castellaneta has a point.

The laptop is older than my main PC.

I'd ask what discs weren't working but I don't want to intrude. Are they newer discs? It's a tricky one, there's no physical damage to the laptop or disk drive/laser?

Haha, no worries.  Just some old games.  Battlefield 2 and COD 4.  Funny enough though... I got Star Wars Battlefront (2004) to work every time I put it in the disk drive.

Fair enough, are they're all genuine copies of the game or are some burned?
