Hi all,

I currently have a 1060 6GB card and a 24" 1080p monitor. I want to upgrade to a 25/1440p, 27/1440p or 27/2160p monitor. The difference between 1440p an 2160p is about €40 (€250 vs €290) so something tells me I should buy a 4k screen, but I'm afraid even the GPU I want to buy won't be able to play everything at 4k (probably a 2070).

So I mostly want to know how bad downscaling 4k to 1440p during gaming actually is, as I have heard very varying stories. Also any recommendations about whether to opt for a 1440p or a 2160p monitor are welcome.

Thank you :)

Thing is that I don't play too much competitive games, at least not seriously. I much prefer RPGs where the high refresh rate doesn't matter.

A 1060 really isn't great for 4k, should be fine for 1440p with a few lowered settings though.

As for the 2070, based on the "leaked" 2060 3dmark scores, a 2070 should be able to handle 4k just fine.

Yeah I wasn't going to have my 1060 try 4k, I don't think it'll much enjoy that. It should be fine for current gen games but I'm a bit afraid of what will happen in games launching next year.

Same, I never play any competitive games like CSGO or anything, having the refresh rate at ~100-144 is so nice though. Its so smooth.

Witcher 3 at 100hz was amazing.
