I have a Lenovo laptop

Model ideapad 300

My HDD not working properly

Need to buy a new one

Kindly suggest me

If possible always go for a SSD instead of a HDD ( for Speed and Reliability)

also how big must it be and what kind of connection?
SATA or M.2?

I would get an SSD. Hard drives compared to SSD's are slow, and most laptops now ship with SSD's.

From what I found, you should be able to put a nice SSD inside as an upgrade.

 

Storage SATA controller Optical

Some: HDD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm or 9.5mm high

Some: SSHD with 8GB NAND fl ash memory / 2.5" wide, 9.5mm high

Serial ATA, SATA 6.0Gb/s support, integrated in processor

Some: DVD±RW, 9.0mm high, tray-in
