Hello,

I need help with this list I made to upgrade my PC. I am not made of money but really need to upgrade some parts in my PC. I have a gtx 1060, FX 8350, 8gb ddr3 ram, Gigabyte 78-lmt-usb3 mother board and Raidmax viper gx case. I have really been struggling recently with this current setup. Newer games are starting to struggle more plus my pc runs pretty slow. I am also getting into heavy editing and so I really need to upgrade. Is this a good upgrade? Is there a way I could get it cheaper for the same performance?

Find better RAM if you can. 2666MHz is a little low.

your not going to get a noticable difference with faster ram. maybe if you have a set with better timings but that is negligible.

Do you know what you are talking about? Or parroting other people?

Linus even did a video on this specific subject.
i'm at work now so i cant send the link :S

I appreciate what he did with that video, but it is an older video and they gave no information beyond just speeds (timings matter). Ryzen architecture works through RAM and by that nature is bound by RAM speeds.

but looking at his budget and the prices for higher speed RAM would be a challenge to get as well.

i mean if you can get higher why not?

but don't make it a main goal :P

His budget is $600 and the parts list he approved came in at $500. Absolutely spend a little more on faster speeds. And if he can a little more for Samsung b-die. He only needs $20 more for 3200MHz.

Newegg has 3200MHz Hynix kits for $160 and that 2666MHz kit is $145.

It's a no-brainer.

And I am learning that prices outside of the US are terrible. I feel bad for my PC brethren across the globe.

Differences here are €149 2666Mhz and €364 for 3200

any case, yeah that's a better option then

no! the i7-8700 is far better than the Ryzen...it has much faster single core performance and similar multi-core performance...basically intel doing with 6 cores what AMD is doing with 8...the i7-8700 has a 4.6ghz boost on single and dual core load, and 4.3ghz all core turbo..

this wil increase the cost considerably right?

about 90$ which represent 18%

There are cheaper B360 boards if needed though...so the difference could also be as little as 70$ if he choose a 79$ board to more acurately represent the 79$ AMD board in your list...which would be 14% more expensive than the Ryzen cheap, so better performance per $

Also Ryzen wants faster memory to perform.
