I'm going for a new computer in the next 2-3 weeks and it only have a Realtec ALC892 and from what i heard "actual sound" it sound extremely bad compared to my current computer. My current board is an Asus Rampage II Extreme. Back then it came with an PCIE SupremeFX X-Fi audio card. I am wondering if i can transfer that onto another motherboard and make it work ? I mean it has the ROG sticker on it so it may be only compatible with the Rampage board. I would like to know if i need to order an extra audio card or not.

Funny thing is that the audio card has 3 distinct connectors on the back and i currently have none plugged in anywhere but i have always seen the card and it works. Are these connector the same as old sound blaster card where there was a optional connector for a gamepad card or is it something for other use case ?

Supreme FX looks like an PCIe x4 compatible card, should be an easy move

Intel 12400F | 2x8 3000Mhz Corsair LPX | ASRock H570M-ITX  | Noctua DH-N14 | Corsair MP50 480GB | Meshilicious | Corsair SF600Fedora

Thanks let me know if I said something useful. Cheers!

Yes in fact i think it's PCIE 4x as the second slot is larger and not smaller (which that is 1x).

And technically an PCIE 4x should work in a PCIE 16x slot even tough the whole slot is not used right ?

Correct, though that would be a waste of a 16x slot
