if the 1080ti isnt powerful enough i would recommend waiting for th 30th August. Maybe nvidia is presenting there the 2080ti/1180ti.

why do you need a 1080ti sli config anyway? do you have a 4k monitor and your fps isnt sufficient?

Why?!

A single 1080Ti is all you need since it's already the fastest gaming card on the market at the moment.

Is there any noticeable differences between a single or dual?

No not really.

SLI might not scale well or isnt supported at all. This could lead to no performance gain in some games at all despite spending another 700 dollar on a second GPU. And you might get microlags do to the fact that one card is waiting for the other to compute.

If it is possible for you to wait (two weeks for anouncement and maybe another month for availability) your bucks will be probably better spent on one single GPU.

here is an article comparing 1080ti vs 2x1080ti

https://uk.hardware.info/reviews/7270/22/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-review-incl-sli-faster-card-for-the-same-price-gtx-1080-ti-slinperformance-per-game

Battlefield 1 (DX12) - 3840x2160 - Ultra 65,2 61,8 -5,2%

the fps are down due to sli in battlefield 1 for example, though that is probably due to DX12
