Isn't any drive capable of it nowadays?

I want to buy an Nvidia 3D Vision kit or the windows Vr Kit just to watch 3d movies. Can anyone tell me which one will give me the best experience? Thanks.

Does your monitor support 3D Vision? I've used it once or twice just to see what it was like, on a Star Trek movie. It was ok, but it was bit of a hassle to set up from what I remember. Also, it hasn't been supported officially for a long time anymore as well I think.

No, I don't have a monitor yet. I'm now planning to go and buy the necessary equipment.

I watched a YouTube video that said 3D vision was very good, and someone also VR for movies is bad.

Anyway VR is cheaper than using 3D vision, but if the 3D vision quality is better why not buy that one.

It's a dead/dying technology though, so I'm not sure if it's worth buying into. I think 4k movies aren't even done in 3D. For gaming I think it added a nice touch in some games, and that is (as far as I know) still reasonably supported through community efforts. 3D didn't take off as much as hoped and now VR is the next hype. I would not recommend VR just for watching movies though.

3D movies are shit (pop-up book effect) and using a VR headset to watch them is even shitter (too low res). 3D Vision for games used to work really well, I believe there's still an active community patching games to get them to work (Helix and others) but I don't know how active.
