Question about a Sennheiser Cable

I own a Sennheiser Game One headset, the cable is detachable and after getting mauled by my cat in a pretty bad shape.

I looked up a replacement and the price is ludicrous for what it appears to be:

It appears to be a 2.5mm Male to 2x 3.5mm Male, Though I'm not 100% sure because part of the 2.5mm end is recessed, I wonder if they are functionally different from normal 2.5mm jacks.

 

I want to create my own cable for when mine inevitably fails using these:

2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter

3.5mm Y splitter

3.5mm aux cable

 

Which would total out to less than 4 bucks, as opposed to Sennheiser's $35 + shipping.
