144hz or G-Sync

I'm looking into getting a new monitor.

I currently have an LG ultrawide 1080p 60hz monitor. Which is nothing special.

 

My question is should I buy a 144hz 1080p monitor, a 60hz G-Sync monitor - which are both within budget right now - or should I save for a 144hz G-Sync panel down the road.

 

Just to note I'm not interested in 4k

i7-8700k - stock frequency

GTX 1080

EVGA 1000w

I'd say save and maybe look at 144hz 1440 in the future.

144hz is a much more important, and at those higher frame rates tearing isn't as noticeable anyway

Thanks for the advice. Seems like general consensus is that G-Sync isn't that important.

No, its that G-Sync is proprietary Garbage that is designed to force you to stay within their enviroment and there doesn't seem to be anything done to support the offiical standards on Desktop Cards.

 

So 144Hz is better because it gives you the choice to choose the next graphics card without having to rely on one manufacuturer because you bught a monitor with a huge manufacturer premium for a feature.

 

And because of that, 144Hz makes more sense here.

 

G-Sync right now is somewhere between 150 and 250€ just for the feature alone...
