RIP, just some dell thing then.

I mean you can toss a GPU into it and be fine

but it might be better for the long run if you get the bare minimum R3 2200G system, gives you an upgrade path and a better CPU/GPU

Can reuse your storage and just live without a case for a bit

Wouldn't buy a GT 1030, go for a low profile RX 560 or GTX 1050 instead, as you're likely to upgrade the CPU eventually anyways.

If you do go for the 1030 though, make sure you get the one with GDDR5, not DDR4

i was thinking about upgrading to the gt 1030 from a gt 710 would it be worth the upgrade?

What's your current PC/CPU?

What's your budget/country for the upgrade?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

How much are you looking to spend?

For the price of a 1030, you could get a GTX 760 or possible a GTX 770 (used of course)

Or a GTX 950

i dont think any of those have a low profile version i need a low profile card to fit in my pc

Just run the case with the side panel off to get a better GPU

CPU is really low end...

core i3-2130 at 3.4ghz

If the rest of the parts are ATX an upgrade to an R3 2200G is going to get you a better CPU and GPU

Get a dremel or some bolt cutters.

Or maybe just a new case if it's standard ATX parts.

as a used GPU is likely to get you 50% or more performance compared to a GT 1030

The motherboard may still be ATX

Either way keep saving there are better low profile options, but I'd highly suggest you just get an R3 2200G system so you aren't CPU bottlenecked with any futre GPU

There is a low profile RX 560 at $129, it's normally about twice as fast as the GT 1030, LP model is likely a bit slower of course due to power/cooling

*although there's a chance the dell PC needs a BIOS update or just won't work with polaris, can always return the card if that ends up being the case
