Best OC Motherboard for Threadripper

I am getting the Threadripper 1920x for a build

I cant seem to decide on a good motherboard! With liquid cooling I'm looking for the best overclocking potential for the price

I initially thought the Asrock X399 Taichi would be a good choice because of its price range but is it a good overclocker? All of the really high rated motherboards are extremely expensive and have more rgb than pride day and I just want a good overclocking motherboard at a good price. It doesn't have to be cheap, I still want quality, but I don't want to pay $500 for a motherboard just to blind people with RGB.

Is the Asrock X399 Taichi a good motherboard or would you recommend others?

I have a Gigabyte Designare and have a 4.0GHZ OC on a 1950X with 3600mhz RAM.  It's been a pretty good board for the last 6 months.  Not cheap though...

I'm also going to use the Taichi for my entry level build and a 1900x. I think it's a very nice board. The overclocking is simple and stabile. It gets a little hotter than the Zenith Extreme but the price speaks for itself.

How did you get it on 3600MHz RAM? I thought it only went to 2667

Use the good stuff.  This will XMP up to 3600 on the designare.  Can't speak for any other RAM or MOBO, but that's what I have.

Oh so I have to go XMP

If I have an 8x4GB configuration would I have to worry about power delivery?

Power deliver no, but I have heard about issues with all slots occupied.  I have 4x8GB with no issues.  8X4 I am not sure.  What are the specs of the DIMMS?

DOH!  Was afraid you were going to say that.  I tried 3200 LPX and it wouldn't go to 3200.  Was stuck at 2666.  There have been some BIOS updates since then, so it might work now, but it din't 6 months ago.

Well I haven't bought it yet lmao

is there any kind of tweaking I could do because the Taichi is rated up to 3600 OC

I'd just buy RAM off of the QVL for that board.  Samsung B-die is what seems to work best, at least on first gen TR.

Memory QVL.  Pick from this list.  They are guaranteed to boot at the listed speed.

What about samsung b-die makes it better lol i didn't know this much about RAM

Samsung's memory manufacturing processes are considered industry leading, meaning they manufacture them to a much higher standard and enforce rigorous quality control. Thanks to this and their binning practices for very well performing dies (to become B-dies), RAM modules using Samsung memory dies can reach much higher speeds and/or have much tighter timings than the competition.
